Occlusal guards/ Nightguards/ Bruxism
Nocturnal bruxism can harm the teeth and result in serious smile changes. It is common for patients with bruxism to also complain of headaches, pain close to the ears, the neck, shoulders, and back. For these patients a custom occlusal guard can be made, which protects the teeth from further breakdown and also relaxes the muscles, orthopedically supports the joints of the jaw, and improves the quality of sleep. Occlusal guards are also indicated after extensive rehabilitation of the dental arches in order to protect the restorations (crowns, bridges, veneers) from future damage.
Sleep apnea appliances
If you snore or constantly feel tired you may have obstructive sleep apnea. If you are diagnosed with snoring or mild/medium sleep apnea, then a custom occlusal appliance can be made that may successfully replace your CPAP. This appliance repositions the jaw more forward, keeping the airway open, which reduces snoring and improves sleep quality.
