Teeth Cleaning

Cleaning removes dental plaque and tartar. Plaque is created by food debris and germs and stays on the teeth causing tooth decay and gingivitis. When it absorbs calcium from the saliva, it turns to tartar and needs to be removed by the dentist with special tools.

Dental cleaning includes:

Removing of the tartar which is done with ultrasound or hand tools.
Removing of the dental plaque and stains (polishing) which is done with a rotating soft brush and a special toothpaste.

Fluoride Application

After fluoride treatment, the patient should not eat or drink for about half an hour as the fluoride layer placed by the dentist may dissolve and therefore its effectiveness will be minimized. It is also recommended not to brush the child’s teeth that night so that the fluoride will stay longer on the teeth.
