Orthodontic treatment for Teenagers
The orthodontic treatment during adolescence usually starts after all baby teeth have been replaced by permanent teeth. This treatment is the 2nd phase of orthodontic treatment when early problems have already been addressed or the only and main treatment phase when no previous treatment has been completed. The treatment includes all permanent teeth and the duration depends on the degree of difficulty of the orthodontic problem.
2nd phase
The complete orthodontic treatment during adolescence aims to:
- Fully rehabilitate any skeletal or dental orthodontic problems.
- Form a harmonious facial profile.
- Create an ideal occlusal relationship of the teeth and distribution of chewing forces.
- Upgrade facial and smile esthetics
- Contribute to proper oral hygiene habits
- Manage speaking, breathing and temporomandibular joint disorders in collaboration with other specialists
- Detect and treat orthodontic problems that involve impacted or supernumerary teeth or teeth that have failed to erupt
- Manage patients with cleft or other craniofacial disorders in collaboration with other specialists.
Adolescents mainly use orthodontic braces (in combination with other immovable or mobile orthodontic appliances, if necessary), the so-called “braces” (GC Orthodontics®) in various color combinations, depending on the preference of each adolescent (see field “multimedia” and download our application BraceMate®). Create your own fashion !!! Of course, alternatively, you can choose aesthetic mechanisms (ceramic braces) or transparent splints (Invisalign TeenTM), if you do not want them to be visible. Our team takes great care to make orthodontic treatment painless after the initial pressure on the teeth through the use of proper materials and controlled forces on the teeth. We cannot promise super-fast treatments but we do not follow long-term fatiguing treatment protocols.
